Although it may have been wrong to drop the A-bomb on Japan,butit ended the war, and Japan started it with us first. I hate war, and think that it is an atrocity on the world. Well, the way I see it, as long as there are living creatures OF ANY SPECIES on this big blue rock, there can't be peace. Humans aren't the only species who fight each other. Animals engage in conflict, as well.

Of course, the human way of waging war is brutal, but as long as people possess concious thought, free will, intelligence, and opposable thumbs, there will be fighting and weapons and death.

If you truly want peace, start by abolishing organized religion! Almost every war ever fought on this earth has started over religious differences. This, in itself, is rather hipocritical, and stupid. Those of you Christians who try to say "Our God is a peaceful God" need to actually READ your own holy volume! You Muslim extremists aren't even following your religion AT ALL! You Jews piss and moan about all of the atrocities that were perpetrated on you for thousands of years, while at the same time firing tanks and rockets at people with rocks.

The entire human race needs to grow up! Everyone knows that most, if not all, wars are nothing more than arguements over "dick size".

As far as all this "America bashing" shit goes, sure we have our problems as a nation. Most of those problems can be blamed directly on bullshit politics, corrupt and greedy politicians, and citizens who play "follow the leader" and choose to live like lemmings. But! If America sucks so bad, why do people from all over the world want to come here?

And the inhuman Japanese were actually a suitably deserving candidate, with their disgusting treatment of the rest of Asia's civilians, and Allied POWs. As a fairly young American, I never knew much about Hiroshima and Nagasaki except from a historical perspective. But last night, during a bout of insomnia, I switched to a history channel that documented the bombings and interviewed survivor accounts. I was shocked and dismayed. If the heart could come out of its mouth, it would have. My muscles were trembling. Such devastation and suffering. Truly, mankind is his own worst enemy. Now to address the dropping of the bombs themselves. Yes it is horrific, but what part of war isn’t? Most of you have completely overlooked the greatest good that came from this action. If the US hadn’t dropped the bombs, and another country was able to develop them (which a few quickly did), you can guarantee that there would have been many more nuclear bombings to take place (which would entail a much larger number of dead). Not to mention the fact that there hasn’t been another nuclear attack since (almost 70 years after the fact), or another war on such a large scale. I mean it only took 20 years from the end of the first WW to the start of the second. Do the math. 60,000,000 dead from WWII (which is a larger number than in WWI, about 37,000,000). Three more wars on this scale might have occurred otherwise. When you put some thought into it, the bombings probably save lives on the scale of hundreds of millions. But even if you want to ignore that fact and still wine about the fact that civilian lives were lost, this simply is not so. When countries go to war soldiers, and those in power are not the only ones involved in the war. I mean shit where do you think all the ammunition and supplies were coming from? The Japanese weren’t just shitting it out of their ass. For some time it has been an effective tactic to disrupt/destroy the enemies line of supply.
I don't know what is so hard to get about war. Out of 200 posts that I have read only 2 posts have even had the slightest idea. WAR = BAD. The fact that everyone thinks that they are any different than any other living organism is amazing (and a little funny). Killing is a basic instinct instilled in every living organism. A tree in a forest will starve out other trees trying to reach the canopy for the life giving sun. Even single celled organisms kill other single celled organisms. It's been going on since the beginning of life. Though the reason behind killing might have different motives, it will always exist.
In closing I would like to say that the US might have its faults and are certainly not innocent when it comes to war, but they are the largest aid giving body in the world. This has been a great debate and I would like to thank everyone for voicing their opinion. And, if I offended anyone… good. The truth is the truth, not an emotional/moral response.

Why can't everyone just understand that this is war? It happens! Deal with it. I am not going to go to much into any other wars, because this pertains to WWII not Vietnam or any others. All I will say is that no nation, country, religion, race, or any other grouping of people are completely innocent. It is these large groups of people who are responsible for almost every large scale atrocity (don’t forget natural disasters). No one is innocent if we’re to consider the actions of our ancestors (Yes this does include the US along with EVERYONE else).
As for all of the apologetic people out there; you are only stealing oxygen from people who are deserving of it. So do us all a favor and stop breathing already. Especially the Americans kiss asses. What is wrong with you? I am so glad that the people back then had the balls to do what needed to be done. The USA certainly didn't start the war. But thankfully the Americans back then weren't willing to just lie down and let the enemy rape, torture, kill and, ultimately and forcefully, take the world over only to build it in the image they envisioned. Let's not forget what their idea of a new and perfect world entailed. As for the European pieces of shit bad mouthing the USA (and probably most of the others), I can't help but think that their opinions would be different (or nonexistent) if the US had just stayed out of both WWI and WWII. Perhaps if your ancestors hadn't just lain down giving head to Hitler and Mussolini's armies the US wouldn't even have had to enter the War(s).
